Just remember to keep your holy Ghost when you vote. What would Jesus do? Abortion, gay rights, moral issues....those are big things to consider when we think of leaders.:)

Thank you anonymous for the reminder. If I may, I would also like to add to your list on things we must pray about when going to vote: war in Iraq, healthcare, US economy (alone and how it is impacting the global economy)...Seeing the impact that President Bush has had on abortion, gay rights, moral issues, the war in Iraq, healthcare and US economy makes me want to pray that the NEW president will make a change. Thanks again for your reminder...

God knows that no matter how informed we are about this nation there will always be some things we just can't control.

That's why he tells us to pray for our leaders no matter WHO it is. He knows that no law that this government passes is going to stop what's going on in the heart. A law againts gay marriage is not going to prevent homosexuality. There is no grace to be obtained in a vote, only in a true relationship with God.

I don't believe that ANY saint is for homosexuality, abortion, or immorality.(kind of a oxy moron) So if they choose to vote for a democrate it's safe to say it's for another reason(healthcare, foreign policy, education, etc.) To assume that a person is not utilizing their holyghost if they vote a certain way is kind of unfair.

If I appear a little concerned about this topic...well, I am.

The religious world has used 'the vote' as a crutch and an excuse to not do what is REALLY necessary to combat homosexuality, immorality, and abortion...deal with souls.
I don't want us* to have that mindstate.

I know that the Holy Ghost will be with EVERY Saint at the booth. And when we're done that same holy Ghost is going to lead us to the fields to labor for souls and help this nation more than any of the candidates can. But they can deal with the tax cuts and stuff:)

Sorry I wrote so much. Maybe I should get my own blog. Who am I kidding, I'd never use it

A saint would have to ask themselves "How would Christ handle this?" We need to look beyond race. Sure it would be nice for those of us who want our race to be represented in such a high office but the ultimate question is "What would God do?" I cannot support or condone his views. Sorry, I'd love to but I cant.

Christ would have handled it the same way he handled it in the scripture..."render unto caesar what is caesars" God is not holding us accountable for who we select in office. Based on what I see, neither of them are showing fruit unto salvation so their both subject to lies (which they both have) and other things opposed to Gods standard. There are things in both Candidates lives I don't condone as a saint (or any president that's ever been for that matter)

My point is the only real power we have lies within the life we live as saints.

"what would jesus do?" to be honest I don't even think he would vote. Instead he would encourage the saints to live true to God and directly impact those that are in sin. No matter who's in charge.

Again, who a saint selects in office is not a reflection of where they stand with God, but how they feel about the economy, healthcare, domestic policy, etc. I'm confident that no saint stands for immorality.

But you're right race should have nothing to do with it as that would be unfair as well. However I am proud of the steps america has taken to where a black man would even have a chance to be president.

I agree with your thoughts.....It's the choosing of the "Lesser of two evils" I suppose.

Thank you all for your comments...Anonymous...said "We must look beyond race." TOTALLY agree, in fact I don't even think that race (or gender) should ever be a factor in whom one votes for. These two factors have no merit when it comes to who is best suited to be over our country. For the last two presidential elections I certainly did not make race an issue when I voted for Gore and Kerry and Lord willing, I won't make it an issue this year.

What Would Jesus Do? This is a very important question; we should all ask ourselves it in ALL that we do. God is love; this guided His every footstep, word and motive. It should be the same for us. One thing about Jesus, he spent some of His time with those, others seemed to look down upon. He showed them love despite their current circumstance; they didn't have to reach a certain status, economic level or religious authority to be noticed by Christ, he inevitability wanted to show them the way of salvation through his acts and words of kindness. Now that's love...What would Jesus do?
